Play abandoned:
Rain finally had the last say in Christchurch. A wet outfield and persistent rain forced the officials to call off play for the day. The toss will be held at 10:00 am tomorrow, and play will begin at 10:30 am.The target for the rest of the four days will be to squeeze in about 98 overs. Also, since even the toss did not take place on the opening day, the Test is now a four-day affair, the follow-on mark is 150, not 200.
Tea, Day 1:
No improvement in the condition as we head into Tea. It looks okay for a while with players coming onto the field, but there was another bout of rain, a heavy one, and we were back to square one.
Update:
It is still wet and gloomy. The next inspection will be held at 4:00 pm.
